Current Schedule

We are designing a collaboratively funded concert series, which could be repeated at venues being developed throughout the area, creating opportunities for collaboration with Fort Point visual and new media artists and professionals. We look forward to exploring new ways to work with stakeholders who also want to be a part of something new, exiting and representative of the unique creative energy of Fort Point Channel.

We are very pleased to announce that Boston Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra has received initial funding for two outdoor concerts this Summer on the waterfront, to be performed by a full chamber string orchestra.

These summer concerts are to be the first of many events designed to promote the district’s cultural vitality with live music.  We look forward to collaborating with the community to create something memorable, special, and reflective of the unique character of Fort Point.

The first part of each concert will be more traditional, while the second half is more eclectic and adventurous, with arrangements for the orchestra by Grammy-nominated violinist Jeremy Cohen of Quartet San Francisco. Boston Virtuosi’s musicians are the finest free-lance string players in the city, performing with Boston Pops, Ballet, and other orchestras all over New England.

The project has an intriguing twist: Two artists will share a canvas, painting live as one of the pieces unfolds on stage. This live component will present art as chamber music, turning the solitary aspect of creating art on its head. This project will be offered only to Fort Point-based artists. Our concept is to choose a piece of music with  powerful visual character — color, rhythm, density.
