Mission for Ft. Point Channel

Programs: As a supplement to our regular concerts, we would like to initiate a series of lecture concerts for adult learning programs. This will compliment the compelling and accessible thrust of our performances. Some of our programs focus on new and less well-known works and composers, but never at the expense of core repertoire.

Education/Outreach: We hope to put into effect a substantive collaboration with schools in South Boston. Eventually, we intend to select students who will be given an opportunity to perform with Boston Virtuosi members in some of our Fort Point area concerts.

Our programming ranges from Haydn to World Music, to newly commissioned works, but invariably back to the heart of our classical repertoire. We invite the multimedia artists with whom all of us share this special place to come to us with their ideas. Fort Point is a community of people who love the arts. Residents and artists cannot help but create an exciting, evolving environment by their association with one another. The Boston Virtuosi intend to become a catalyst and partner in this process. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with this community.

Arts and culture bring a great city to life. Artists and cultural institutions attract new investments and new residents, and so catalyze the growth of our neighborhoods and our regional economy. Millions of visitors come to Boston each year to see our historic sites, hear our fine orchestras, visit our renowned museums, and make tourism one of our leading industries. Cultural organizations of all sizes and types—large art and science museums, mid-sized theater companies and orchestras, and small visual arts organizations or choral groups— teach and inspire young people and help us bridge differences among our diverse population. As adults, our encounters with the arts have the power to transform us, prompting us to see, hear and think in new ways.
