Cynthia Forbes | Celli

Cynthia Forbes, violoncello, performs in chamber and orchestral ensembles throughout New England. She did her undergraduate studies at Harvard University in Anthropology, and went on to Syracuse University under a Graduate Fellowship in Music. Her principal cello teachers were George Neikrug and Benjamin Zander. Appearances as a soloist include performances with the New England String Ensemble, Boston Virtuosi, the Greensboro Festival Orchestra, the Syracuse Camerata and the Rome Festival Orchestra. Solo and chamber works have been composed for her, most recently Byzantine Variations, Threnody and a Concerto Grosso for Cello and String Orchestra by Vuk Kulenovic, soon to be recorded as a CD. She will be giving the world premiere of the Concerto Grosso in the upcoming 2001-02 season of the Boston Virtuosi. Cynthia teaches privately in the Boston area and at the Phillips Exeter Academy Summer School, where she also coaches chamber music.
